Start with what you plan to press Before comparing hydraulic oil presses, write down the oilseed you plan to use and how much prepared material you expect to process each day. These details give your supplier a starting point for discussing the machine and its configuration. |
1. Identify your oilseed and how it will be prepared
Tell your supplier whether you plan to press peanuts, sesame or another oilseed. For peanuts, specify whether your weight refers to shelled kernels or peanuts in the shell. For sesame, say whether you plan to use hulled or unhulled seed. Mention any preparation you plan to do before pressing, such as cleaning or roasting.
2. Separate raw material input from oil output
“500 kg per day” can describe two different goals. If you have 500 kg of prepared kernels to process each day, that is your daily input. If you want to produce 500 kg of oil per day, that is your output target. For an oil output target, ask for a trial with representative material before using an estimated yield to calculate how much seed you will need.
3. State your actual operating hours
A target of 480 kg of prepared seed over eight operating hours requires an average input of 60 kg per hour across the shift. This is a planning example. When reviewing a proposed batch press, ask how much prepared seed fits in a batch and how long a complete cycle takes, including loading, pressing and removing the press cake.
4. Send a short brief before asking for a quote
For example, you could write: “We plan to process about 480 kg of shelled peanut kernels per day in one eight-hour shift. Please suggest a suitable hydraulic oil press and tell us what information you need to prepare a quote.” If your daily volume is still uncertain, share a working range and say whether you expect to process more than one oilseed. |
Frequently Asked Question
Can I use the same press for peanuts and sesame? Tell the supplier which oilseed you will process most often and how you plan to prepare each one. Ask the supplier to confirm the proposed configuration and whether a trial can be arranged for each material. |
